Rhinoplasty (Nose Repair)
Need to know: Rhynoplasty is aimed to reduce or increase the size of the nose, to change the nasal tip or correct deformities... It also corrects hereditary problems, injuries or breathing difficulties. It consists in modifying the structures of the nasal bone and cartilage in order to get a new appearance for the nose enhancing facial harmony.
There are two different types of rhinoplasty, in both cases general anesthesia is performed. A COMPLETE NOSE REPAIR requires that the surgeon restores the nasal septum, the cartilage or even building a completely new nose, as it could happen after an accident.
We could also perform the technique called "Rhynoseptoplasty", which is aimed to improve breathing problems by correcting the nasal septum position. The technique to be used as well as the kind of rhynoplasty will be decided by the surgeon.
The patient leaves hospital with a splint and "drip pad" gauzes, necessary to avoid bleeding and to fix the nasal septum. They will be removed after two days. The stitches and the splint will be removed 7 or 10 days later; then, for the following two weeks, the patient will have to use the splint just to sleep. You can resume normal live immediately (taking into account the splint)
Make up: The results obtained thanks to this surgery are amazing, but they are not definitive until 6 or 8 months after the surgery. The nasal tip is the last part to be restored. It is normally a traumatic surgery, since bruises and swelling appear in the affected area, although they will resolve after two or three days.
Profile: Any person searching for an improvement, not an absolute perfection, in their appearance. Rhynoplasty improves self-image and self-confidence. But it will not make us look like another person. Age must be taken into account; Undergoing this surgery is not recommended to people who has not reached maturity yet, that is, under the age of 14 or 15.

Frecuently Asked Questions about "Rhinoplasty (Nose Repair)"- Will people notice that I have been operated on?
- The purpose of rhynoplasty is that the new nose will not attract attention, being in complete harmony with your face, creating a nice whole. In other words, the aim is that the surgery cannot be perceived.
- Are scars visible?
- In most cases, incisions are performed within the nostrils, so that they will be inside with no outside scar.
- Is it painful?
- Rhynoplasty is not a painful surgery but it causes discomfort, especially, the first two days because wearing the drip pad gauze does not allow us to breathe as usual, and we have to do it through the mouth. It is uncomfortable rather than painful.
- What happens if I do not like it?
- The interview with your surgeon will allow you to tell him/her your anxieties and what you do not like. With this information, the surgeon will examine your face and will explain you, applying what you want, the pros and cons so that you will both agree to achieve the most exquisite result.
- Are the results immediately visible?
- No, the definitive results will start to be appreciated six months after the surgery, and will not be totally fixed until one year had passed. You must take into account that the whole bone structure has to be restored, the tissues need time to heal
