Breast Lift (Up-Rise Breast)
Need to know: Breast lift o mastopexy is a surgery aimed to lift and shape those breasts which have lost their original form and elasticity and, therefore, have fallen with the pass of time because of pregnancies, breastfeed...This phenomenon is called ptosis.
Breast lift procedure takes between one hour and a half and three hours, and it is performed with general anesthesia.
Incisions depend on the level of ptosis, and they are of three kinds:

Scars will be located in the breast area consisting on the part of the skin which is going to be removed and which will place the nipple and the areola in their new higher position.

In any of the three cases, it can be necessary to insert a prosthesis under the pectoral muscle or directly behind the breast tissue. It will help to lift the breasts and keep it in their new position for a longer period.
The patient will wear a special bra for a month. After 7 or 10 days, she will be able to resume normal activity. Sutures will be removed.

- Seven or 10 days after the operation, stitches are removed. From that moment, you can keep a normal life, although you cannot make great efforts or lift weight.
- Will I lose feeling in my breast?
- It is normal to lose feeling in certain parts of the breast during the first months, but it will come back so do not worry. Sometimes it takes longer than others to come back, but it is totally normal. In some occasions, it takes one year or more to come back.
- Will my breast fall again?
- No matter how good the results will be, gravity will continue existing. But it is also true, that your breast will be lifted for several years before fallen to the same position they had before the surgery. Moreover, depending on the kind of skin and cares, they will always be in a higher level than the original breast. This is unpredictable because it does not depend on the surgeon or on the surgery, but on the quality of the skin.
- Is necessary to wear a prosthesis?
