Frecuently Asked Questions about "Anti-blemish (Brown Stop Treatment ®)"- Will blemishes disappear?
- No! Some patients obtain amazing results reducing in a great degree the number of blemishes and their pigmentation, but we cannot promise that no blemish will remain as this is very improbable and, so the patient will not be satisfied with the treatment. We must insist that they are going to improve a great deal, but we must not make false promises. In order to help our patients to understand the results of this treatment, we can explain there are different kinds of blemishes on the skin: those on the epidermis, which are more superficial and then easier to eliminate, and those which are on the dermis and then in deeper layers, so it is more difficult to eliminate them completely. But we will reduce the intensity of their pigmentation.
- What happens after a peel?
- Patients must be warned that the exfoliations to be used are medical ones and then, highly concentrated acids are used. These can provoke a controlled burning in order to eliminate the upper layers of the skin, where there is a greater presence of the cells which produce grease. Anyway, following the instructions given by the doctor and with sun protection, those signs will fade with time leaving no after-effect. Immediately after the exfoliation, the skin get reddish and, in the following days, the skin undergoes a flaking, whose degree will depend on the kind of skin and on the intensity of the exfoliation.
- Do patients need to go on sick leave?
- No! It is not necessary since patients can use make-up without any problem just the following day. But they must moisturize their skin and use not very dense make-ups.
- Can intense pulse light burn?
- As it happens with exfoliation, if burning takes place it will be controlled. Following the necessary instructions, there must be no permanent problem.
- Is it possible that some blemishes get hyperpigmented?
- It is possible in some patients, especially in those who have a darker skin. Anyway, it is an inflammatory over-pigmentation which will tend to fade with the pass of time, and so it is described in the informed authorization.
- What about sun exposure?
- It is not advisable since the skin is very sensitive after the treatment.
- Can medication be taken during these treatments?
- There are certain medicines which develop photosensitivity. Therefore the use of intense pulse light in this treatment makes necessary that the patient informs us about which medication she/he is taking.
- Does the patient need other medication to be taken orally or to be applied on the skin?
- It depends on the doctor’s criteria, but sometimes it is necessary to supplement the treatment with antibiotics, ACO or creams. Ten sessions are necessary, with intervals of 15 days between them, always taking into account the variations the doctor considers necessary.
